DAY THEME: Discovering the vital contributions of environmental and natural resources to Palm Beach County

KEY ISSUES: 

• How to balance development with environmental preservation and restoration
• How to achieve environmental restoration goals in a timely and efficient manner
• How to balance water quality, water quantity and flood control
• How to integrate innovative uses of reclaimed water and excess surface water to achieve water supply and environmental restoration goals
• How to better understand and address the nexus between water, energy and the environment
• How to address sustainability needs in response to climate and energy disruptions in the coming decades

KEY OBJECTIVES:

• Obtain a better understanding of the environmental challenges facing Palm Beach County
• Obtain a better understanding of the history of water management in Palm Beach County
• Form a better understanding of the solid waste management process in Palm Beach County and some of the innovative practices being implemented by Palm Beach County and the Solid Waste Department
• Form a better understanding of the connection between climate change, energy and water within PBC
